The value of volunteering
Many years ago I volunteered to be a visionary volunteer leader for the National Speakers Association of Michigan. I know, it’s “meta” but meaningful because that experience set off a chain reaction which continues to impact me. It was much more valuable to me than to the NSA Michigan Chapter. I experienced, first-hand, the value of volunteering.
You see, I didn’t think I had time. I had three young children, a full-time job and an already busy schedule. Yet, I threw caution to the wind and volunteered to assist the Chapter. Over time I moved into leadership and was honored to lead the chapter.
This experience was so positive I immediately jumped into volunteering for ACMP Global. As a member of the Standard Working Group I was able to assist in authoring the Standard for Change Management, Co-leading the Standard Practice Guide and serving on the Certification Committee.
As I continue my volunteer efforts with our Michigan ACMP Chapter, I want to encourage you to consider pursuing true value by volunteering as well.
The value is hard to describe, but the relationships, adventures, and opportunities I’ve encountered along my volunteer journey are undeniable.
Maybe you feel as I did, schedules are full and our ability to attend one more Zoom meeting is questionable.
Yet the opportunity is here. We are looking for your help so that our ACMP Michigan Chapter can grow. Please consider becoming a member of our Board of Directors, a call for nominations has been sent. Please consider volunteering to assist with membership, web design, programming or communications.
Consider the opportunity to volunteer as a gift for yourself, you have no idea where your volunteer efforts will take you.
